The Taza Chocolate factory tour is a great vacation week activity to do from Sharon MA. It's fun and interesting for adults and kids. Even if you are not a chocoholic...(is there such a thing?)...you will enjoy learning about Taza Chocolate's chocolate making process.
Taza Chocolate is a really exciting place! Their core values, company culture and emphasis on customer service are clearly communicated by their employees and through their process of making delicious, high quality, stone-ground chocolate.
The tour guides are knowledgeable and speak clearly about the entire process from bean to bar. All of it is made in Somerville, Massachusetts not far from M.I.T. By the time my husband and I finished the tour, I wanted to work there! And, that had nothing to do with the chocolate samples that we could taste until we couldn't eat any more.
I should add that until I went on the Taza Chocolate Factory Tour, I was not a fan of dark chocolate. Taza Chocolate definitely made me a convert! The bright bursts of flavor on your tongue, the texture and suprisingly, for me, the satisfaction and contentment of eating just a small amount of this high quality, stone ground chocolate....let's just say there is plenty of content here for poets!
There are many delicious flavors, offered in either a bar, or their unique disc shape. Some of my favorites are the Salted Almond, Orange & Cinnamon (a holiday special) and Ginger. The O-U provides the kashrut supervision for Taza Chocolate.
Parking is free. The cost of the tour is $5 per person. Children under the age of 3 are free, however, the tour is recommended for ages 10 and up due to the educational focus. For safety reasons, one adult is required for each child under the age of 10.
Set up your Taza Chocolate Factory tour online and let me know what your favorite flavor is!

Good post, Nina. I enjoyed reading it.
Good morning, Mike...thank you for reading! If you're in the greater Boston area it's worth a visit to Taza Chocolate in Somerville, MA!
Hi, Valerie...too true, lol! I haven't been able to eat supermarket stuff since I met Taza! Maybe this could be a new diet technique...eat chocolate!!
Nina, i hope you stuffed your pockets with that dark chocolate which is SOO healthy for you! Nice localism post on Taza!
Nina....as a self-proclaimed choco-holic - I've even been to the chocolate brunch in Boston - I cannot believe I did not know about this place! A chocolate factory....right in our own backyard practically! I'll have to see if they have nut-free chocolate so I can bring my kids there.
As an aside - there used to be the Bakers Chocolate Factory on the Milton-Dorchester line. My grandfather worked there. My mother said when she was a kid he'd always bring home chocolate - and she'd complain....not more chocolate?!
Christine, you will love Taza Chocolate...and want to get a job there, too! lol That's a pretty funny story about your mom!!
