Take the Polar Plunge for Special Olympic Athletes

Take the Polar Plunge for Special Olympic Athletes
Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Feb 25, 2017 in Sharon MAI'm shivering just thinking about the 3rd Annual Polar Plunge this Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Lake Massapoag in Sharon MA! You can be a "Below Zero Hero" and take the Polar Plunge or be an enthusiastic supporter!
Each "Plunger" commits to raising a minimum of $100, or $75 for students and Special Olympic athletes. Official Polar Plunge, long-sleeve t-shirts will be given to all those who raise their minimum fundraising amount. (No, they're not insulated!)
Every dollar goes directly to support year-round sports training and competition programs for the more than 11,000 Special Olympics athletes from Massachusetts. There are also some great incentive prizes for those who raise larger donations!
Law Enforcement Torch Run and the Polar Plunge on Feb 25, 2017 in Sharon
About the Law Enforcement Torch Run
This year's event, in partnership with the Mansfield Police Department, is a Law Enforcement Torch Run Event (LETR). The LETR for Special Olympics was formed in 1981 as a year-round, fundraising and awareness building program which allows members of the law enforcement community the opportunity to support Special Olympics athletes who live, work and compete in their local communities.
Law enforcement members from Federal, Military, State, County and local agencies participate in the Massachusetts Torch Run campaign. Funds are raised through a variety of activities including the Polar Plunge event.
Officers have raised over $70,000 in the past two years from the Polar Plunges in Lake Massapoag and over $362,000 in the last year through a variety of fundraising initiatives for Special Olympics of Massachusetts Athletes. As always, our deep appreciation to the members of our law enforcement organizations!
In June, hundreds of law enforcement personnel will carry the Special Olympics Torch, the "Flame of Hope" through counties across Massachusetts as the torch is carried to the 2017 Opening Ceremony of the Summer Games in MA
