Sled, Snowshoe, Skate, Tube and More! If you can get your kids off the electronics and out of the house there are lots of places for them to enjoy the snow. Helmuts are recommended. Here are some places to do outdoor activities that may be familiar and some that may be new! Enjoy!

SLEDDING:

Pequitside Farm - 79 Pleasant Street, Canton. Pequitside Farm is a 33-acre property owned by the Town of Canton and managed by the Canton Conservation Commission. On the property, there is a large Colonial era main house and right next to it is a small hill for sledding. It's not too steep and is perfect for young children. There is a parking lot right at the house.

Ponkapoag Golf Course - 2167 Washington Street, Canton. Ponkapoag Golf Course is located right off of Route 128 on Washington Street in Canton. From Sharon, follow North Main Street to Cobbs Corner. Turn left at the intersection in Cobbs Corner onto Washington Street  and continue for about 4 1/2 miles (stay left at the fork with Randolph St.) You will come to a traffic light and it looks like Washington Street ends (you can only go left or right). Turn left and make an immediate right into the Ponkapoag Golf Course parking lot. The golf course is owned and operated by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. In the winter, the hill at the 18th hole is a great sledding hill. It is located next door to Canton's Metropolis Skating Rink. If your timing is right (see public skate schedule below) and you have the energy, you could do both!

Borderland State Park/Ames Mansion - 259 Massapoag Ave. Sharon. Borderland is about 3 miles from Sharon Center. Parking is $2 per vehicle. From the main entrance, after you park, you walk to the right to reach the mansion. The lawn behind the mansion is a popular sledding area.

Sledding at Petee's Hill Sharon MAFor Older Sledders Who Like A Fast Ride (and don't mind the walk back up a steep hill).

Petee's Hill - Hillside Ave. Sharon. Petee's Hill is located on Hillside Ave., a short, dead-end street off of Depot Street (Route 27) just below the center of town. There is virtually no parking and it is extremely difficult to turn around. Best parking is just up the road in the center of town. Petee's Hill is steep, fast and bumpy. It is a long way down and a long way to walk up!

Galvin Middle School - 55 Pecunit Street, Canton. From Sharon, take North Main St. to Cobbs Corner. Turn left at Cobbs Corner on Washington Street and continue about 3 1/2 miles. Pecunit Street is on the left just after the cemetary. Turn left on Pecunit. The Galvin Middle School is the second school on the right. Just to the left of the main driveway there is a long, steep hill with no obstacles at the bottom.
